Children’s health is not a place for guesswork. These are the rules every Growing Plate guide follows.
Research and writing
Every guide starts from current guidance published by national health bodies and professional associations, supplemented by peer-reviewed research. Numbers — daily amounts, serving sizes, nutrient content — are taken from primary sources and cited inline, so you can check them yourself.
Medical review
Before publication, guides are reviewed by a credentialed professional such as a registered dietitian or pediatrician, who checks that the advice is accurate, safe and appropriate for the ages it covers. The reviewer and review date appear at the top and foot of each article.
Updates and corrections
We revisit guides when guidance changes, and at least once a year. The “Updated” date reflects a substantive change, not a typo fix. If we get something wrong, we correct it and add a note explaining what changed. Report an error to hello@picklee.co.
Independence
Growing Plate is published by Picklee. We don’t accept payment from food, formula or supplement companies for editorial coverage, and we don’t use affiliate links. Where we mention the Picklee app, it’s labelled clearly.
Not medical advice
Our guides are general information for families. They can’t account for your child’s individual health, and they’re not a substitute for advice from your child’s doctor.
